Two young talents from Odisha have made the State proud by entering into the India Book of Records for their sharp memory skills.
Prathamesh Mahapatra, a six-year-old from Sarakoana village under Khaira block of Balasore district has achieved the feat of being the fastest to recite names of all the districts of Odisha.
He recited the names of the 30 districts in just 16 seconds. Prathamesh had applied for the India Book of Records online on August 18, and the test was held on August 20, the family member of the child prodigy informed.

Father of Prathamesh, Raghunath Mahapatra said, “I am proud of my son. My wife and his tuition teacher have worked a lot to train Prathamesh. He is in Class II and has not gone to school since the restrictions were clamped last year. However, he remembers whatever he is taught at home or online,” he added.
Similarly, another child prodigy, Priyanshi Nath of Dharmasala block in Jajpur district also possesses amazing memorisation power and skills.
Priyanshi has set the record for identifying English alphabets, 32 animals, 10 vehicles, 14 fruits, 10 vegetables, 10 colours, 20 food items and 31 Odia alphabets, reciting multiplication table of 2, words associated with the English alphabet, days of the week, months in a year, one shloka and 10 rhymes at a tender age of 2 years and nine months only.
Though she has not gone to school, her skills to remember things surprised the panel of India Book of Records who took her test on a video call, informed her family members.
“She used to recite the words associated with English alphabets in 30 seconds, and then the timing reduced to 17 seconds. Later on, while she was giving the test, she managed to recite the words in only 15 seconds,” said Soumya Kanti Nath, Priyanshi’s mother.
Jharana Nath, Priyanshi’s grandmother said, “We are happy and proud of her. Her mother has worked a lot to impart her training and I hope she has a bright future and touches the sky in her career,” she added.
