Youth tied to tree, thrashed mercilessly in Nayagarh; video goes viral

In an inhumane and barbaric incident, a youth was thrashed mercilessly with his hands and legs tied to a tree by three to four persons at Badasahara village under Fategarh Police Station in Nayagarh on Friday.

The video of the shocking incident has gone viral over various social media platforms.

The victim has been identified as Arun Muli, who is a driver by profession and resides in Bhubaneswar.

As per the allegation by Arun’s wife Barsha, her husband had some controversies with his elder brother over ancestral property and he was beaten up mercilessly over the issue.

“My husband shouted at me over a family issue on Friday. However, family members of his elder brother thought that he was shouting at them. Subsequently, they launched a deadly attack on him. They tied him to a tree and thrashed him mercilessly with pieces of woods. My husband has sustained severe injuries in the attack,” said Barsha.

Arun has been admitted to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar in a critical condition.

An FIR in this connection has been lodged at Fategarh Police Station. The accused are reportedly on the run.

However, no comments in this regard could be obtained from police or the family members of the victim’s elder brother.
