A tourist was rescued by the lifeguards after he drowned while bathing in the sea at Sector 3 of the Puri beach on Friday.

The tourist has been identified as Sougat Sadhukhan from North 25 Parganas in West Bengal.

As per reports, the tourist from the neighbouring state was swept away by strong currents while swimming in the sea.

Luckily, the tourist was spotted by the lifeguards quickly and was rescued immediately thanks to their quick response.

According to the local residents, the prompt action of the lifeguard prevented a potential tragedy.

Police have issued warnings to tourists and visitors, urging them not to enter deep into the waters due to unsafe conditions.

Earlier in July this year, an ITI student from Bhadrak district, identified as Rudra Pratap Sahu, went missing at sea while taking a bath with his friends in Puri.

The incident took place when Rudra, along with his friends, entered the sea for a bath. During this time, he was swept away by the seawater and could not be located.
