Beneficiaries get Subhadra Yojana assistance money
Subhadra Yojana beneficiaries in Odisha on Wednesday got Rs 5000 credited to their bank accounts in the second phase of the first installment of the newly formed BJP government’s flagship programme in the state.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, in the presence deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and several other dignitaries, released the assistance money to as many as 35 lakh beneficiaries during a special programme organised at Chau Ground in Baripada.
Addressing the gathering, CM Majhi said, “Our government fulfills all the promises it makes. Subhadra Yojana is the biggest welfare scheme in Odisha. 35 lakh women received the first installment of the Subhadra Yojana in the second phase today. So far, Rs 3000 crore, including Rs 1750 crore today, has been distributed under the scheme.”
“You all have made the double engine government a success in the State. The double engine government will bring double development and double benefits,” Majhi added.
Terming Subhadra Yojana historic, Pravati Parida, deputy chief minister said, “Inclusion of over 1 crore women under a scheme had never happened before. This is historic. More than 1.6 crore Subhadra Yojana registration forms have been distributed so far out of which, 1.5 crore forms have been registered.”
“In the first phase, 25.11 lakh women were provided assistance money under the scheme. Today, the assistance was disbursed to 35 lakh women who will receive the money by the evening today,” Parida added.
“I will utilise the money to start a small business and make me self sufficient,” said a beneficiary after getting the assistance money.
Expressing joy, another beneficiary said, “I am delighted after getting the assistance money.”

Notably, Subhadra Yojana was one of the major promises made by the BJP for women in its election manifesto in Odisha. PM Modi had launched the ambitious Subhadra scheme of the BJP government on his birthday on September 17 this year.
Under the scheme, each beneficiary will receive Rs 10,000 per year in two installments of Rs 5,000 each one on Rakhi Purnima, and the other on International Women’s Day (March 8) for five years.
