Odisha Deputy CM Pravati Parida
Good news for SUBHADRA beneficiaries -- around 35 lakh women will receive Rs 5,000 each -- under the ambitious women-centric scheme. The money will be credited directly to the beneficiaries' bank accounts by 12 PM today.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, in the presence of several other dignitaries, will release the money under phase II of the first installment of Subhadra Yojana, the financial assistance scheme launched by the BJP government.
The state government has planned a grand event at Baripada to disburse the second phase of assistance. CM Majhi along with his cabinet colleagues will attend the function. The first and the 1 croreth beneficiary will be felicitated on the occasion.
Odisha Deputy CM Pravati Parida, who is in charge of the Women and Child Development Department, will also be present at the venue. Earlier, the Deputy CM had informed that more than one crore women have registered themselves under the Subhadra Yojana, the financial assistance scheme named after the sister of Lord Jagannath.
“Over one crore women have already come forward and registered themselves to get benefits of the Subhadra Yojana, which has created a history in Odisha,” the deputy CM said.
Subhadra Yojana was one of the major promises made by the BJP for women in its election manifesto in Odisha. PM Modi had launched the ambitious Subhadra scheme of the BJP government on his birthday, on September 17 this year.
Under the scheme, each beneficiary will receive Rs 10,000 per year in two installments of Rs 5,000 each one on Rakhi Purnima, and the other on International Women’s Day (March 8).
