Firecrackers worth Rs 15 lakh seized in Odisha’s Khordha

In a significant operation led by Khordha SP Sagarika Nath, police seized three truckloads of illegal firecrackers worth over Rs 15 lakh near Lekhanpur village in Odisha's Khordha district.

Khordha police on Tuesday seized three truckloads of firecrackers illegally stashed in a house near Lekhanpur village under Baghamari police limits. In this connection, a person was detained for interrogation. 

As per reports, acting on the direction of Khordha SP Sagarika Nath, teams from Baghamari police station and Khordha Model Police Station, led by the SDPO, carried out a joint raid at the house. During raids, a huge amount of crackers were found to be stashed illegally in the house.

The value of the seized crackers is pegged at over Rs 15 lakh. As many as three mini trucks and one pick-up van (Tata Ace) were engaged to transport the seized crackers. 

Informing about the incident, Khordha SP Nath said, “He had stored the crackers in his house. During the investigation, it was known that his license was invalid. Crackers worth over Rs 15 lakh were seized. It was also known that a cracker manufacturing unit was operating from there. Ingredients used as raw materials like Potash powder, gun powder, sulfur, etc were also seized from the house.”
