Bulldozer razing Raja Nayak’s house in Bhubaneswar
Local officials took stringent measures on Friday in Bhubaneswar’s Kedarpalli against the accused in the Sahadev Nayak murder case. The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) enacted punitive action by demolishing the accused’s residence under heavy police presence.
The two persons, Raja Nayak and Rahul Nayak, are still absconding. Commissionerate Police is in 'action mode' against the fugitives in a bid to curb criminal activities in the city.
The structure has been completely reduced to rubble following the operation, which reflects ‘zero tolerance’ towards such criminal activities. This move by the authorities has sparked discussions regarding legal actions in such cases in the State Capital.
No comments were received from local police or BMC authorities in this regard.
Worth mentioning, in a major breakthrough in the murder case, Mancheswar Police had earlier arrested a culprit, Sushant Nayak, from Kanpur locality of Cuttack on Mar 1, 2025.
The accused, also known as Susei, was arrested by the police after absconding for several weeks. He was wanted for his role as an accomplice, driving the two-wheeler in which the key accused, Lipika Nayak, had sat pillion and beheaded Sahadev.
Incidentally, on January 8 (Wednesday) this year, Lipika had disguised herself as a man and sat behind Sushant on a motorcycle. The duo had chased Sahadev with a machete for a distance before beheading him on the Rasulgarh-Vani Vihar flyover.
Police had previously launched an extensive manhunt to nab the accused persons in the murder case and had subsequently arrested Lipika Nayak, who allegedly hatched the entire plan along with her spouse, Laxmidhar Nayak, to kill Sahadev.
