Patha Utsav adds splash of colour to lives of Bhubaneswar residents ahead of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas
The streets of the state capital Bhubaneswar on Sunday came alive with the return of the vibrant street festival 'Patha Utsav'. The colourful event kicked off on a high note as preparations for the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas gather momentum.
The festivities, which spanned from Master Canteen square to the serene Ram Temple, added a splash of colour to the capital and offered a dazzling array of cultural spectacles. Attendees indulged in a variety of cultural performances that ranged from traditional dance and music to engaging sports activities and artistic displays.
Local artists transformed the pavements with striking paintings and intricate rangoli designs, providing a visual delight for visitors. Adding to the allure, captivating 3D street art installations captured the imagination of passersby, all meticulously crafted with the theme of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in mind.
The event seeks to create a rich cultural tapestry, reflecting India's diverse heritage while celebrating the Indian diaspora's contributions across the globe. Organisers are enthusiastic about promoting a sense of community and shared identity among locals and diaspora attendees alike.
The street festival is expected to draw large crowds, offering a unique blend of entertainment, artistry, and reflection on India's global connections.
"It is a break from our monotonous lives. Every day people have to go to offices, pressured with work. A little dance and music, jogging, painting and other activities on a chilly winter morning will add fun to everyone's life. Body will also be rejuvenated. Our aim is to make Bhubaneswar residents happy fun in their lives," said Mayor Sulochana Das.
Likewise, Law Minister Pruthibiraj Harichandan said, "The Patha Utsav has been started to entertain the guests and tourists who will arrive in Bhubaneswar for the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. But, a Sunday should be a day of relaxation and fun for everyone. So, Patha Utsav will make Sunday a fun-filled day with colorful activities. I have requested the department to continue Patha Utsav every Sunday and spread joy among the residents of Bhubaneswar."
