Odisha gears up for the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Bhubaneswar from January 8-10, spotlighting its heritage. Key figures like Prime Minister Modi and S. Jaishankar to attend.

City walls being painted ahead of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

For the 18th edition of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas to be held from January 8 to 10 in Bhubaneswar, the Capital City is undergoing widespread beautification efforts.

The Odisha government is pulling out all the stops to ensure the event makes a lasting impression on an international platform. Janata Maidan, the central venue in Bhubaneswar, is at the heart of preparations. The cityscape is being adorned with a fresh coat of paint and newly created murals, highlighting the state's commitment to a clean, beautiful, and attractive presentation.

Hosting Pravasi Bharatiya Divas for the first time, Odisha aims to shine a spotlight on its vibrant arts and traditions. This comes in the wake of other high-profile events like the G20 Culture Working Group Meet, Navy Day Celebrations and DGs/IGs Conference, positioning the state prominently on the global stage.

The event will see participation from distinguished figures, starting with the Minister of External Affairs, S. Jaishankar, on the opening day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address attendees on January 9, followed by a concluding speech by President Droupadi Murmu, underscoring the event's national importance.

Over 10,000 guests, including more than 7,000 overseas Indians, are expected to join the celebrations. This occasion is not only a testament to India's enduring ties with its global Diaspora but also an opportunity to exhibit the unique cultural tapestry of Odisha to the entire world. 

Worth mentioning, coinciding with the event, double-decker buses and Hop-on Hop-off bus services will also be launched in the Capital City. Meanwhile, two double-decker buses and four Hop-On Hop-Off buses have arrived in Bhubaneswar.
