Pabitra Mohan Panigrahi
An Assistant Executive Engineer posted at Chitrakonda in Malkangiri district, has been detained on Saturday after a vigilance operation uncovered a substantial amount of unaccounted cash. The accused has been identified as Pabitra Mohan Panigrahi.
Surprise Interception
On a planned operation led by Vigilance Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sadananda Panigrahi, the vigilance team reportedly intercepted Panigrahi's vehicle near Govindapalli square. During the joint raid by the Vigilance and Malkangiri Anti-Corruption Department, the officers discovered cash totaling Rs 5.7 lakh within the vehicle.

As per sources, a total of Rs 18.57 lakh rupees have been recovered from Panigrahi so far.
Continuing Investigation
Vigilance officials have confirmed that Panigrahi has yet to provide an adequate explanation for the origin of the seized money. The investigation is ongoing to determine the connection and legitimacy of the funds.
The vigilance team assures a fair and thorough inquiry as they probe further into the matter, exploring potential leads on any possible corruption or malfeasance.
Similar Incidents
Earlier in March this year, acting on allegations of possession of disproportionate assets beyond known sources of income, Odisha Vigilance officials had launched simultaneous raids on the properties of Sri Debasis Sahoo, Assistant Project Manager, Odisha Water Supply & Sewerage Board (OWSSB), Bhubaneswar.
Similarly in January, a medical supervisor in Kalahandi district was caught red-handed and detained on allegations of accepting a bribe amounting to Rs 4,000 in return for providing a birth certificate to an applicant.
