Come December 4, Odisha will witness the valour of the Indian Navy for the first time. As the Pilgrim Town Puri is all set to host the Navy Day this year on Wednesday, the preparations have reached its final stage.

While the district administration is leaving no stones unturned for the Navy Day celebrations, a two-day full dress rehearsal has started today ahead of the grand event which will be witnessed by thousands of people in the State. 

According to sources, the Navy Day celebrations will feature 15 warships and 40 aircraft executing combat exhibitions for the first time in the State.

President Droupadi Murmu will attend the event. The Naval personnel will perform daring combat demonstrations, including stealth operations by MARCOS commandos. The event highlights the readiness and valour of the Indian Navy in safeguarding the nation.

Sharing details about the preparation INS Chilka’s commanding officer B Deepak Aneel said, “This is the first time it has been decided to demonstrate operations in Odisha. The preparations for the Navy Day celebrations had begun months back. Ships, submarines, aircraft and various other marine commandos will be participating in the event. You will have a spectacular show.”

“A two-day full dress rehearsal began today. Necessary infrastructure developments have been made so that people can enjoy the event. Besides, adequate police forces have been deployed to avoid any untoward incidents. Besides, LED walls, toilets, and medical units will be deployed for the event,” said Puri Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain.

According to the Indian Navy release, "The Indian Navy will display a spectacular Operational Demonstration off the coast of Puri, showcasing the strength and versatility of its naval fleet. This event is not only a tribute to India's rich maritime heritage but also an opportunity for the general public to witness first-hand the world of naval operations, a realm often hidden from public view."

The demonstration will showcase the Indian Navy's strength and versatility, offering spectators a rare glimpse into the operational capabilities of India's maritime force.

Notably, Navy Day is observed on December 4 every year to commemorate India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war.
