Vigilant pilot averts possible bird hit during preparations for Navy Day celebrations

The stage is all set for the Navy Day 2024 celebrations in Odisha’s Puri on December 4. Preparations are underway by the Indian Navy in the pilgrim city for the big day.

Amid this, a possible mishap was averted on Saturday due to the presence of mind of a helicopter pilot during rehearsals ahead of the spectacular Operational Demonstration to be held at the Blue Flag Beach on December 4, 2024.

It is for the first time that Navy Day celebrations is being held in Puri.

It was during special formation display involving five choppers that a bird from nowhere was seen flying directly towards one of the helicopters.

After seeing the bird, the pilot of the helicopter was quick to respond and maneuvers his chopper without disrupting or obstructing the way of other choppers.

As per sources, around 24 warships, 40 aircrafts including helicopters and fighter jets will demonstrate Indian Navy’s mighty maritime capabilities and operational strength through water and aerial maneuvers against the majestic shoreline in Odisha.
