Puri Gajapati invited for Indian Navy Day
Ahead of the much-awaited Navy Day celebrations, the officials of the Indian Navy on Saturday invited Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb for the grand event to be held on December 4.
In a gesture of tradition and respect, senior Navy officials visited the royal residence of the Puri Gajapati and invited him to the prestigious event which will also be attended by President Droupadi Murmu.
Extensive preparations for the grand celebrations are already underway, with the Puri coastline resembling a battlefield of sorts. Beachgoers were treated to the roar of warships, dazzling aerial stunts by fighter jets, and skillful helicopter maneuvers on Saturday as part of the Navy’s ongoing rehearsals.
The day also saw Naval personnel and paratroopers showcasing their combat strategies on the Blue Flag beach, turning the area into a major point of attraction for locals and tourists alike.
Navy Day is celebrated each year to commemorate India's victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war and honour the Navy's valour and achievements on December 4. It will be the first time that the celebrations are going to be held in Odisha.
As per reports, the Indian Navy Day celebrations in Puri will highlight the Indian Navy's readiness to counter external threats. Along with a display of stunts and flybys of fighter jets, several warships will also showcase their strength.
Sources also stated that the Navy’s musical band is also all set to enthral visitors by performing patriotic beats and concerts and MARCOS commandos will exhibit stealth and rapid-fire combat techniques, for which bunkers are being constructed and rehearsals are underway along Puri beach.
