Minor girl abducted in front of her elder sister in Odisha’s Bhadrak, probe on

Tension prevailed in Basudevpur under the Chudamani Marine Police limits of Bhadrak district after a 9-year-old girl was allegedly abducted on Saturday evening. Over 12 hours since the incident, the child remains untraceable.

According to reports, the girl had gone to collect grass with her elder sister when the incident occurred. Miscreants on a motorcycle allegedly dragged her away in front of her sibling.

The reason behind the abduction and the identity of the culprits remain unclear. Police, along with villagers, have launched an extensive search operation in and around the area, but without any breakthrough so far.

“I was in my shop around 7.30 in the evening when I got the information that the minor girl had been abducted. I immediately launched a frantic search, but it was in vain,” said Rohit Mallick, neighbour.

“I asked her family members to lodge a police complaint and also called 112. Soon after, the Marine Police rushed to the spot and began their investigation. The girl was abducted right in front of her elder sister by two bike-borne miscreants,” he added.

Meanwhile, the incident has created panic among locals. The police are yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
