Liquor shop owner shot by miscreants in Odisha’s Rairangpur, critical

In Rairangpur, Odisha, three attackers shot liquor shop owner Sabyasachi Mohanty. The victim is in critical condition while police probe the unidentified assailants' exact motives. Three miscreants arrived on a bike and demanded money and liquor at gunpoint.

Police take the victim to local hospital (SDH)

A liquor shop owner was shot by three attackers in Kuleisila locality of Rairangpur under Gorumahisani police limits in Mayurbhanj district, on Tuesday. The assailants fled the scene, and the motive for the attack remains unknown.

The victim, who suffered gunshot wounds to the leg, is presently receiving critical care at a local medical facility. Police are investigating the incident to uncover any possible motives or involved parties.

The liquor shop has been identified as Sabyasachi Mohanty, a senior cop said.

According to sources, three unidentified miscreants opened fire on a liquor shop owner before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained two bullet injuries in his thigh and was admitted to hospital in critical condition. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.

Miscreants demanded money, liquor at gunpoint

“The foreign liquor shop owner was selling liquor when three miscreants arrived on a bike and demanded money and liquor at gunpoint. When the shop owner refused to part with his purse, they fired two shots at him with a gun,” an eyewitness stated.
“What should I say? As you all see, this is a case of firing. The incident occurred at around 1.00 PM. There were three assailants,” 
Sabyasachi’s wife stated to mediapersons.

Worth mentioning, police had apprehended a man, aged 50 years, following an incident of celebratory gunfire during a wedding ceremony at Nagar village under Astaranga Police limits in Puri district, on February 21.

The accused identified as Sushant Kumar Das had allegedly discharged two gunshots into the sky, prompting the cops from Astaranga Police Station to take action.

Das had faced charges soon after the event, leading to his arrest. He was subsequently produced before a local court later in the day.
