Inter-state illegal arms racket busted in Cuttack
In a major crackdown, the Cuttack Commissionerate Police apprehended an inter-state illegal arms trafficking gang on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, the Malgodown Police conducted multiple raids across different locations and arrested as many as six individuals involved in the smuggling and sale of firearms.
During the operation, the police seized five pistols and thirteen rounds of ammunition from the accused.
The investigation began with the arrest of Kadua alias Debadatta Singh from the Jobra area. Following his interrogation, police obtained crucial information leading to the arrest of five more members of the gang from various parts of Cuttack.
All the accused have several criminal cases registered against them at different police stations across Cuttack. Police are currently probing the source of the firearms and to whom they were being sold. The investigation is ongoing to uncover the full extent of the illegal arms network.

"The Commissionerate Police has busted an inter-state arms racket. Acting on a tip-off, the Malgodown Police and Special Squad conducted raids and arrested Kadua alias Debadatta Singh and seized a 7.65 mm pistol and five live ammunitions from his possession. Following his interrogation, five more members of the gang were arrested. As many as five 7.65 mm pistols and 13 roundsof live ammunition have been seized. Their vehicles and mobile phones have also been seized," said Commissioner of Police S Devdatta Singh.
"As an inter-state link is suspected, the investigation is on to check the arms and weapons with the Commissionerate Police area. All accused have several criminal cases registered against them at different police stations across Cuttack," he added.
