Infant dies as ‘father denies health card claiming child not his’; heartbroken mother seeks justice

PUBLISHED: LAST UPDATE:

Kabita Nayak alleges her 7-month-old son died due to husband Gangadhar Nayak's refusal to provide a health card for treatment, leading to financial inability for care. She demands legal action.

Accused husband Gangadhar Nayak

In a heart-wrenching incident from Bhubaneswar, a mother has alleged that the life of her 7-month-old son was lost due to the father's refusal to provide a health card for his medical treatment.

The grieving mother, identified as Kabita Nayak, claimed that her husband, Gangadhar Nayak, denied permission to use the family health card for their son’s treatment, citing that the child was not his. As a result, she was unable to afford medical care for her baby due to financial hardship.

The infant’s condition worsened over time, and tragically, he passed away without receiving the necessary treatment. Devastated by the loss, Kabita has approached the Khandagiri Police Station, demanding legal action against her husband. She has accused him of cruelty and negligence, leading to the death of their son.

Kabita has staged a sit-in protest in front of the police station while holding her deceased child, seeking justice for what she describes as a deliberate denial of medical care by a 'merciless and heartless' father.

The mother is urging the authorities to arrest Gangadhar Nayak and initiate strict legal proceedings against him for his alleged role in the tragic demise of their infant son.

"I had many dreams about my child. However, my child died because of him (Gangadhar). I requested him many times to sign so that my child's life would be saved. However, he didn't listen. He said that the child is not his and he will not provide the health card. My mother sold all her gold ornaments for the child's treatment. But more amount of money was needed. Had he signed, my child's life would have been saved," said a crestfallen Kabita.
