Thousands of devotees are heading to Puri for Bahuda Yatra, with Lord Jagannath and siblings returning to Srimandir. Comprehensive traffic plans are in place to manage the crowd, including special routes and parking for vehicles from various locations.

How to reach Puri for Bahuda Yatra

Thousands of devotees are flocking to Puri to take part in the Bahuda Yatra on Saturday, during which Lord Jagannath and his divine siblings-Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra will return to their abode-Srimandir. 

The event is anticipated to draw significant crowds, prompting comprehensive traffic arrangements to facilitate the smooth flow of devotees in and out of the holy city.

Special routes 

Regional authorities have implemented special routes for vehicles travelling from several destinations to Puri. Those journeying from Brahmagiri are directed to use Mangala Ghat Square and Sterling Square for parking four-wheeled vehicles.

Travellers from Bhubaneswar with four-wheelers should proceed to Malatipatpur Bridge and further navigate through Baidas Nagar Square and Grid Station Square to reach the Talabania parking area.

For departure, drivers are instructed to take the route through PKRIT Square, Central School, Bhudan Square, Grid Station Square, Balighat Square and Samangara village.

Similarly, visitors from Konark are advised to park at Talabania and use the same path for their return journey. 

Two-wheeler vehicles, a popular mode of transport in Odisha, arriving from Brahmagiri should be parked at locations such as Jagannath Ballabh, Matitota playground, and Matitota helipad, with specific routes outlined for their return journey via Narendra Kona and Mangala Ghat Square back to Brahmagiri.

Those arriving from Bhubaneswar on two-wheelers will find designated parking at Jagannath Ballabh, Matitota Playground, and the helipad. Their return routes include Narendra Kona, Natia Babaji Square, Kumbharapada Police Station, Atharanala, and Batgaon. Bikers from Konark are directed to park at Holiday Resort, Blue Flag Beach or Nilachal Ashok.

These meticulously planned measures aim to manage the anticipated influx safely and ensure a convenient pilgrimage experience for all attending this deeply spiritual occasion.

"Huge number of devotees visit Puri to have the darshan of the deities for Bahuda Yatra. Advisory has been issued for them to prepare their travelling plans after watching the waiting line. Around 70-80 platoons of police will be deployed for 'Suna Besha' (golden attire of the deities)," said Additional Police DG Dayal Gangwar.
