Odisha CM Mohan Majhi announces a world-class Jagannath Museum in Puri, featuring a research center, library, auditorium for light and sound shows, and an open-air stage for cultural performances to promote Jagannath culture.

World-class Jagannath museum to come up in Puri

Puri is set to get a world-class Jagannath Museum. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi announced about the museum in a presser on Friday.

The proposed museum will be developed within a dedicated campus that will also house a research center and a library, creating a comprehensive hub for the promotion and preservation of Jagannath culture and literature.

The integrated complex aims to become a significant cultural and educational landmark. The museum, alongside the research center and library, is expected to play a pivotal role in the study, documentation, and promotion of the rich culture and heritage of Lord Jagannath.

Additionally, the premises will include a 300-seater auditorium equipped to host daily light and sound shows, offering immersive experiences into Lord Jagannath's history and mythology. A large open-air stage will also be constructed to showcase cultural performances by artistes, further enriching the visitor experience.

This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing cultural tourism in Odisha while honouring the spiritual and artistic legacy of Lord Jagannath.

"Many tourists, especially the youth, visiting Puri are not aware of the rich Jagannath culture and heritage, and nothing has been done in this regard for the last seven decades. For the promotion and preservation of Jagannath culture and literature, our government has decided to set up a world-class Shri Jagannath museum, library, and research center in Puri. The museum, alongside the research center and library, will be established in one premises. It will play a pivotal role in the study, documentation, and promotion of the rich heritage of Lord Jagannath," said CM Mohan Majhi.

"Moreover, the premises will also include a 300-seater auditorium equipped to host daily light and sound shows, offering immersive experiences into history and mythology related to Lord Jagannath. A large open-air stage will also be set up to showcase cultural performances by various artists," he added.
