Group clash sparks controversy in Cuttack college; police excess alleged
Tensions flared up at Rajabagicha City College in Cuttack after two factions of students engaged in a violent confrontation on Monday.
According to sources, two students accused the members of a rival group of attacking them with sharp weapons and filed a formal complaint with Badambadi police.
There are further allegations that some non-students previously had entered the college campus under inebriated conditions, reportedly making inappropriate comments towards some of the female students. When confronted, the non-students allegedly retaliated with a brutal attack. Attempts by the students to notify police authorities led to further allegations that the responding officers assaulted the students within the police station premises.

“We have sent the injured students to hospital for treatment and will take necessary action after an injury report comes in. Primary investigation suggests that the clash was a fallout of membership issues. Details can be divulged after a probe,” ACP Panda expressed.
“As of now, we are questioning some youths and are verifying their level of involvement in the alleged attack. We will lodge an FIR and take action against the wrongdoers. About two to three persons belonging to each faction have been injured,” the ACP stated.
