Clash between VIMSAR PG students, House Surgeons leaves 3 injured
A violent clash erupted between PG students and house surgeons at the prestigious Veer Surendra Sai Institute Of Medical Science and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla on Sunday. Three house surgeons have reportedly sustained injuries in the clash.
While no exact reason for the clash was known immediately, sources attributed it to previous enmity among the students. The incident occurred during the annual function of the UG Students’ Association. A clash broke out between the two groups of the students, leaving three house surgeons injured.
The injured students have lodged a written complaint, threatened to sit on strike and refrain from duty until justice is served.
“They wanted revenge on us over some matter. So, they had pre-planned to attack us. All this while, we were completely unaware of their intention. When we reached the function, all of a sudden they started attacking us,” stated Prabhat Kumar Jena, Former President, of the UG Student Association.
“I’m the victim myself. Similarly, my friend Biswaranjan, the former General Secretary, and Arpit Shubam Das, the former auditor, have also been attacked. We have all the proof. I then called the IIC who reached the venue and admitted us to the hospital,” he added.
“Now that they are adamant, we have not reached any solution. We are now waiting for the permission of our authorities. They should ensure safety and justice for us,” he further stated.
“A function was going on and students of two groups confronted each other over some matter that eventually led to an exchange of words. Things further escalated leading to a minor clash. After being informed, we reached the spot and controlled the situation. Everything is sorted out now. There’s nothing to worry about,” informed VIMSAR Director Bhabagrahi Rath.
