CM Mohan Majhi making the announcement
Odisha’s Ganjam and Dhenkanal districts will soon have Ayush Hospitals, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Wednesday.
The CM was in Puri and addressing a gathering at Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, he announced the expansion of Ayurvedic facilities, sharing plans for the inauguration of two new Ayush hospitals.
Ayurveda, an ancient practice of medicine, has been instrumental in healthcare for over five millennia. However, it remained largely sidelined, akin to almost religious beliefs rather than being acknowledged within mainstream Health Department.
“Until 2014, the India’s traditional method of treatment was neglected. Provision of nominal funds was being made just to manage the things and discharge responsibilities. However, on November 9, 2014, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi constituted the Ayush Ministry and gave Ayurveda a new direction and a new hope,” the CM stated.
Establishment of the Ministry of Ayurveda heralded a turning point for Ayurveda, enhancing its recognition and the roles of its practitioners. Recent years have seen Ayurvedic doctors assuming more comprehensive responsibilities, the CM expressed.
Worth mentioning, President Droupadi Murmu today stressed the need for extensive research in Ayurveda as it holds remedies for many diseases.
Addressing the 75th Foundation Day celebration of Gopabandhu Ayurveda College in Puri district, Murmu said a person can remain disease-free in life by staying connected with yoga and nature.
Stating that she was aware of the method of treatment prevalent among tribal people for treatment of certain diseases, President Murmu said that some elderly tribal people know about various diseases and the herbs needed to treat them.
