Female journalist attacked by servitors at Puri Jagannath Temple; camera, phone seized during Ram Na
A female journalist was reportedly assaulted by temple servitors near the Singhadwara of the revered Jagannath Temple in Puri. The incident occurred during coverage of the Ram Navami festival.
Injured in the attack, the journalist is currently undergoing treatment at the local hospital. A cameraman, also injured in the incident, is likewise receiving medical care. Witnesses report that over ten servitors were involved.
It is alleged that some servitors attacked the journalist and forcibly took possession of her camera and mobile phone.
Protest and Police Action
In reaction to the alleged assault, local media professionals conducted a protest at the office of the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Puri. Following formal complaints from the journalists, police have registered a case and commenced an investigation. The SP of Puri assured that authorities are diligently investigating the matter.
"We take such incidents seriously and are committed to ensuring justice is served," the SP stated.
