Family donates organs of youth who suffered brain stroke

The family members of a 31-year-old youth from the Gajapati district who suffered a brain stroke, donated his organs on Saturday, to save the lives of others.

As per reports, the only son of Nagraj Patnaik-Naresh Patnaik from the Teligoud Sahi area under Parlakhemundi block in the district was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Visakhapatnam after suffering from a brain stroke. However, Naresh passed away while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

After failing to save the life of Naresh, his family members decided to donate his organs to save the lives of others. They consulted the doctors and donated his eyes, kidneys and liver.

“My son suffered a brain stroke due to high blood pressure. He was a very jovial guy and he used to help others during his life. Hence, we consulted the doctors and donated his organs to save lives of others,” said Naresh’s crest-fallen mother Usharani.

“He was a very helpful guy. Apart from human beings, he was also very much compassionate to the animals. Even after his death, he helped people with his organs,” said Jugal Kishore, a relative of Naresh.

“We are proud of Naresh and his family members as they donated his organs to save lives,” said Naresh’s friend Nilanchala Panda.
