Fast food stalls near puja mandaps in Bhubaneswar face BMC raid heat on Durga Puja 2024
Officials of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday conducted multiple raids on many fast food stalls set up near puja mandaps on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra. The drive was launched to check on the quality of food served to people visiting puja pandals.
The Food Safety Commissioner along with a team conducted raids on various street food stalls near major puja pandals in Rasulgarh, Nayapalli, Baramunda, and other areas. Kiosks selling chaat, gupchup, momos, and other fried items.
There were also several complaints of street vendors selling stale food to the visitors. The BMC seized several quantities of stale food and destroyed them during the raid. BMC has warned of strict action against those found with irregularities in the preparation of food.
“Following due orders by the administration, we are checking on the quality of food served to the visitors. We are ensuring that the visitors are served safe and hygienic food. We are destroying unhygienic, stale and adulterated food items. We are also issuing warnings to those found violating norms. Strict action will be taken against those flouting the norms. If need, necessary fines will be imposed on the violators,” an official said.
“Frequent raids will be taken up in every puja pandal,” he added.
