Adventure Tourism to Complement Eco-tourism Initiatives

The Puri eco-resort approval aligns with the state’s recent policy shift toward expanding its tourism footprint. In May, the state government rolled out comprehensive guidelines to promote adventure tourism, with plans to develop tourism infrastructure in all districts.

Key initiatives under the new Odisha Adventure Tourism Guidelines include introducing rafting in Satkosia and hot air ballooning over the Hirakud Dam. The government aims to systematically map and develop locations suitable for land, water, and air-based adventure sports.

In a bid to involve the private sector, the state will facilitate collaborations through the ‘Go Adventure' portal, encouraging investments and partnerships in the adventure tourism segment.
