The Odisha government has finalised comprehensive guidelines to promote adventure tourism in the state, aiming to transform the State into a prime destination for thrill-seekers. In a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhavan on Tuesday, the Odisha Adventure Tourism Guidelines were officially approved.

Adventure Tourism In All Districts

With a vision to make Odisha the first name that comes to mind when people think of adventure tourism in India, the government plans to develop tourism infrastructure in all districts. Locations with potential for adventure activities will be mapped and developed systematically.

Highlighting some of the key projects, the government will introduce rafting in Satkosia and hot air ballooning over the iconic Hirakud Dam. Similar facilities will be extended to other strategic locations across the state. The guidelines also emphasise training and certification programs for the youth in various land, water, and air-based adventure sports. This initiative is expected to generate significant employment opportunities in the state.

To encourage private sector participation, the government will promote collaboration through the “Go Adventure” portal, providing a platform for private stakeholders to engage in the sector.

Chief Minister Majhi stated, “With a Think India, Think Odisha perspective, we are committed to positioning Odisha as a vibrant adventure tourism hub.” The initiative marks a significant step towards diversifying Odisha’s tourism offerings and enhancing its appeal to both domestic and international tourists.
