Bodies of 3 family members found hanging in closed house in Dhenkanal
Bodies of as many as three persons of a family were found hanging inside a closed house at Chaulia Khamar village in Dhenkanal district on Saturday. The house was reportedly locked for three days.
The victims have been identified as Shankarshan Das, his 40-year-old daughter Subarna and 16-year-old grandson Santosh.
The discovery was made by Shankarshan’s wife Puspanjali, who had been away at the time of the incident and stumbled upon the tragic scene upon her return. The closure of the house for three days has heightened suspicions surrounding the deaths.
However, it is yet to be ascertained whether it is a murder or suicide case.
Upon being informed, Dhenkanal Sadar police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident. The bodies have been reportedly recovered and sent for post-mortem to help establish the precise cause of death. Police are also questioning Puspanjali about the matter.

A pal of gloom has descended in the area following the tragic incident. The villagers are in a state of shock. Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward to aid the ongoing investigation.
As per sources, Shankarshan was a retired Railway employee. He was residing at his house in the village following his retirement. Subarna and Santosh were staying with him.
