Two school girls found hanging in Malkangiri forest, family members allege murder

Distraught family members have come forward with allegations suggesting foul play, urging authorities to thoroughly investigate what they claimed to be a case of murder.

In a tragic incident, the bodies of two school girls were found hanging from a tree in a forest near MV 41 village in Malkangiri district on Saturday.

The incident has sparked outrage in the area raising serious concerns about the safety and well-being of women in rural areas.

The deceased have been identified as Mandira Sodi and Jotee Haldar. Both the 12-year-old girls were students of MV 72 Primary Nodal School. 

As per reports, they were missing for the last couple of days and their family members had lodged a missing complaint at the MV 79 police station.

Following the complaint, MV 79 police reached MV 72 Primary Nodal School and started an investigation into the incident.

However, local residents found the hanging bodies of both girls in the forest and immediately informed police, prompting an urgent investigation into the circumstances.

Police have commenced a detailed examination of the site, collecting evidence and taking statements as they seek to unravel the mystery of the girls’ deaths.
