Abhinna Sundar Patra
In another jolt to Biju Janata Dal (BJD), the Opposition party’s Mayurbhanj district secretary Abhinna Sundar Patra has tendered his resignation from the primary membership of the party. In a letter to the party supremo Naveen Patnaik, Patra expressed his decision to leave the party due to personal reasons.
It has been learnt that Patra accused the Mayurbhanj unit of the BJD of internal squabbles driven by factions prioritising personal gain over party unity. He further noted perceived unfair practices in the allocation of election tickets, which he attributes to the party’s losses in the district in the last General Elections.
After departing from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2019, Patra joined the BJD. He currently holds the position of Director at the Mayurbhanj Central Cooperative.

“BJD has no policy and discipline. As a result, I was forced to resign from the party. I worked very hard in the cooperative elections in the district and the party got success. However, I was not given the proper justice,” said Patra.
“BJD has been disintegrating and worse is to be followed in coming days. The party has no leaders,” he added.
Patra has not yet outlined his future political endeavours. BJD is yet to comment on his allegations. Patra's future political intentions remain undisclosed at this juncture.
