Similipal Tiger Reserve
Authorities of Similipal Tiger Reserve in Mayurbhanj district, Odisha have introduced a new rule for the visitors. It has been learnt that online booking has been made mandatory for tourists planning to visit the Tiger Reserve. Similipal Tiger Reserve Field Director Prakash Chand Gogineni informed that the newly introduced rules for the tourists will come into effect from February 1.
To obtain permits, visitors now have to apply online through www.similipal.org or www.ecotourOdisha.com. Gogineni stated that the online booking system would ensure transparency. It will also streamline the entry process and prevent any kind of irregularities in using permits for private vehicles.

Gogineni has urged visitors to plan their trip accordingly and apply online to avoid any kind of inconvenience. Moreover, tourists are also allowed entry in offline mode through the Pithabata and Kalikaprasad gates of the Tiger Reserve.
Notably, UNESCO added this national park to its list of biosphere reserves in 2009. In 1994, the Government of India declared Similipal as a biosphere reserve. In 1979, the Similipal was declared a wildlife sanctuary by the Government of Odisha. The area demarcated was 2,200 square kilometres.
