Bhadrak minor girl’s body found in Cuttack, family alleges murder

The body of a minor girl could not be cremated even 16 hours after her death at Sorishadiha village under Dhamnagar police station in Bhadrak district as the family members alleged that she was murdered by the family members of her lover.

The deceased has been identified as 16-year-old Lilirani Sutar.

As per the allegation by Lilirani’s family members, she was in love with Goutam Behera of the same village. Subsequently, Lilirani eloped with Goutam some eight months back. As the family members of Goutam feigned their ignorance about the matter, Lilirani’s family members lodged a missing complaint at Dhamnagar police station.

However, the family members of Goutam informed the family members of Lilirani over phone some four days back that their daughter was in Cuttack in critical condition. However, to their utter shock, the family members found her dead when they visited Cuttack.

Though Lilirani’s body has been lying near the door of Goutam since Wednesday evening, the family members of the deceased are refusing to take the body for cremation. They are alleging that Goutam’s family members have murdered Lilirani.

Tension prevailed in the area following the incident. Upon being informed, Dhamnagar police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
