Sex racket busted at Khandagiri area in Bhubaneswar, 4 girls rescued

The Commissionerate Police on Thursday busted a sex racket running in a house near Khandagiri area in Bhubaneswar.

Khandagiri police has reportedly sealed the house and rescued as many as four girls.

Acting on a tip-off, Khandagiri police raided the house and rescued the girls who were illegally detained. The rescued girls have been taken to the police station for questioning as part of the investigation process.

As per sources, a woman from Nayagarh had brought the girls by illegal trafficking. They were illegally detained at the house and were forced into the racket.

“After receiving the information from a reliable source, we raided the house and rescued four girls who were illegally detained there. All the rescued girls are from Odisha. We have started an investigation into the incident and the rescued girls are being questioned,” said an official of Khandagiri police station.

“We will also question the owner of the house. More information about the incident could be divulged after the completion of the investigation,” he added.

Notably, a sex racket involving as many as 23 Bangladeshi girls was unearthed in Bhubaneswar a few days back. The girls were allegedly lured to Bhubaneswar with promises of employment, offering daily wages of Rs 2,000. However, they were forced into the racket upon their arrival.

The matter came to the fore after a minor girl was rescued near Link Road in Cuttack, leading the authorities to scrutinize how these young women were brought to Odisha from Bangladesh.
