A bid to ATM robbery failed as miscreants could not unlock the shutter at Bank of Baroda on Dhenkanal-Kamakhyanagar road in Anlabereni of Dhenkanal district. On being informed, Tumusinga police reached the spot and launched a probe, which is underway.

Bank of Baroda ATM loot bid fails in Dhenkanal

An attempted robbery at the Bank of Baroda ATM, located on Dhenkanal-Kamakhyanagar road in Anlabereni of Dhenkanal district, failed late Thursday night. Some unidentified miscreants tried to barge into the ATM kiosk after spraying colour on the CCTV cameras.

According to sources, the robbers were unsuccessful as they could not unlock the shutter of the ATM. Upon receiving information about the incident on Friday, the bank manager and staff arrived at the spot and informed the local police.

On being informed by the bank authorities, Tumusinga police reached the crime site and launched a probe, which is underway.

“An attempt to burgle ATM was made last night. Some miscreants broke open the locks but failed to break open the main locker and luckily could not take away money,” manager of the bank Priyanka Patnaik said when contacted.

Minor damages have been caused to the ATM kiosk, the bank manager added.

Worth mentioning, miscreants have been adopting a unique trick by sticking adhesive black tapes on the bottoms of several ATMs in Odisha and duping several people who visited the kiosks to withdraw money.

A lootera gang from another state had previously come to Odisha on the occasion of the festive season and they were mostly duping people at several ATMs in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri.
