With senior BJD leader Amar Prasad Satpathy remaining absent in various party programmes and BJD organizational secretary Pranab Prakash Das recently making a statement that the BJD in Jajpur is all about Bobby-Jitu-Dyani, the inner squabbles within the party leaders in the district continue to remain in the fore.
Following the poll debacle in the 2024 General Elections, the inner squabble within BJD is gradually intensifying. Many BJD leaders are slamming the top leaders in party programmes and parallel events are organised in different places raising speculation that all is not well within the Opposition party in the State.
In a recent incident, all the leaders of Jajpur were present during a programme organised for BJD’s membership drive in the district. However, the party’s senior leader Amar Prasad Satpathy was absent from the programme. Moreover, Amar’s absence in other district and state-level programmes has stoked political discussions about whether he has not been invited or didn’t attend the programme intentionally.
In response, Satpathy said that he is keeping himself away from political programmes. However, he had participated with a group of the party in a programme at Barchana on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. On the other hand, Varsha Priyadarshini and Rajnarayan Mohapatra took part in different padyatras.
“I have kept myself away from political activities for some days and I will not give any opinion in this regard,” said Satpathy.
A similar kind of situation occurred at Simulia in the Balasore district. While BJD district president Jyoti Panigrahi didn’t invite party leader Shashi Sahoo to the party’s membership drive, Shashi organised a different programme. Moreover, Shashi expressed his disappointment over the development and he is likely to inform about the same to party supremo Naveen Patnaik.
“After making him district president of BJD, the party lost in Simulia and we have got proof for it,” said Shashi.
However, District BJD General Secretary Ranjan Bag refuted Shashi’s allegations.
“I don’t know about his position in the party. He doesn’t have any right to bring any such allegations,” said Bag.
After Souvic Biswal, former MLA of Angul Rajanikant Singh has also made an explosive statement about BJD’s defeat in the last election.
“These kinds of results happen when there are some ‘Bibhisanas’. I have identified them and I will inform about them to our party high command soon,” said Singh.
Earlier, without taking any names, Souvic had slammed some top leaders of the party by terming them responsible for hatching conspiracies to defeat him and his father in the 2019 and 2024 elections.
In response, BJD leader Prasanta Muduli admitted that there is conflict within the party after defeat in the elections and effort is made to solve the issues.
“It is quite natural that there will be some conflict within a party after the election. It is an internal affair of the party and there will not be any problems. BJD was united and it will also remain united in future,” said Muduli.
