Accused flees from Athagarh police station

An accused allegedly fled from Athagarh police station in Cuttack district on Saturday. The accused has been identified as Biranchi Mantri.

As per reports, Mantri was arrested by the Athagarh police late Friday night for his alleged involvement in the bombing incident at Amrutamanohi Patna village on August 9.

However, Mantri managed to flee from police custody due to the alleged carelessness of Athagarh cops.

Police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused.

“An investigation into the incident has been launched. We are verifying under which circumstances, the accused managed to escape from the police custody,” said Athagarh Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rabindranath Mallick.

“After completion of the investigation, more information in this regard could be divulged. Stern action will be taken against those found guilty,” said Mallick.
