BJP workers on Saturday staged a massive protest in Bhubaneswar alleging that the slum dwellers have been cheated by the Odisha government and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) under the Jaga Mission scheme.
Hundreds of workers of Bhubaneswar BJP led by Babu Singh took out a rally from Rajmahal to the Capital police station and raised slogans against BMC and the State government. They lodged a complaint against the BMC Mayor, Commissioner, and other concerned authorities at the police station alleging cheating of the slum dwellers under the Jaga Mission scheme.
“Odisha government and BMC are jointly distributing fake Land Record Certificates under the Jaga Mission. They are no less than the land mafias. They have received money from the slum dwellers and distributed them fake Land Record Certificates. We demand immediate arrest of BMC Mayor, Commissioner, and other concerned officials under Section 420 in the Indian Penal Code,” said BJP leader Babu Singh.
“If police don’t arrest the culprits by coming under the pressure of the State government, we will move to the judiciary seeking stern action against them,” said another BJP leader.
“A fraud government is ruling the State now. They have cheated women, youth, and students. Now they are cheating the slum dwellers by giving them fake pattas in a bid to lure them ahead of the 2024 General Election. We have lodged a complaint against the concerned authorities. If action is not taken against them, we will move court,” said another BJP leader.
Meanwhile, the Odisha government officials and BMC could not be contacted over the allegations levelled by the BJP.
