13-year-old girl falls into 30-foot well in Dhenkanal, rescued safely

A 13-year-old girl was dramatically rescued after falling into a 30-foot deep well in Dhenkanal district on Sunday. The unfortunate incident reportedly occurred late in the night near the Hanuman temple in Bhapur village in the district.

Late Night Accident

As per reports, the accident took place at approximately 9.30 pm as the girl had gone outside to relieve herself and inadvertently slipped into the well due to poor visibility. 

Fortunately, the girl was safely rescued by the Dhenkanal fire brigade in a swift operation.

Swift Rescue Effort

On receiving the emergency call, the local fire department promptly dispatched a team to the site, which successfully brought the child to safety. The young girl has been reportedly admitted to the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and is reported to be recovering well.

Earlier in 2023, a two and a half years old girl had fallen into a 30-ft well in Bolangir. Subsequently, she was rescued safely by a team of Odisha Fire Services Personnel.

The minor girl fell into the well while playing near the spot at Padampur village under Puintala police limits.

Similarly in 2021, two brothers died after falling into a well in Laxmi Talkies area of Sambalpur.

The two brothers were sitting on the edge of the well when suddenly one of them lost balance and fell into the well. In doing so, he also dragged his brother with himself into the well.
