In a significant update regarding the much-anticipated Subhadra Yojana, Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Monday announced that the third instalment of funds under the scheme will be disbursed on April 22. The amount will be credited only to eligible beneficiaries after a detailed household-level survey to filter out ineligible recipients.

Parida informed that alongside the third instalment, new applicants approved under the scheme will receive their first instalment on April 22 and 23.

What Deputy CM Said?

“We want to extend the benefits of Subhadra Yojana to the eligible beneficiaries. A survey will be conduct to assess why 1 lakh beneficiaries were left. To make Subhadra Yojana more accessible, we will conduct a survey of the rejection list and after which the third instalment will be released,”said Parida.

As of now, over 1.7 lakh new applications have been submitted, and from among them, only those found eligible through the verification process will receive the benefits.

The Odisha Deputy Chief Minister made it clear that no fresh applications will be accepted moving forward. The focus is now on conducting a comprehensive home-to-home survey, beginning after April 14, to identify both eligible and ineligible individuals. This includes a special drive to assess the reasons behind why nearly 1 lakh beneficiaries, out of 1 crore under the scheme, missed receiving their second instalment.

"Those who received the first instalment but were excluded from the second will be re-verified. We will reach every home to ensure transparency and correctness," Parida stated.

She further added that after the third instalment, once eligible girls reach the age of 21, they may again be included for further benefits under the Subhadra initiative. Moreover, collective meetings will be held at the community level to analyze the exclusion patterns from the second phase of disbursal.

The Subhadra Yojana, which aims to provide financial assistance to women and girls across Odisha, has seen overwhelming response from the public. However, with large numbers being excluded during the second round, the government is now focusing on cleaning up records, conducting field surveys, and ensuring only the genuinely eligible citizens benefit.

This move signals the state government’s intent to make welfare schemes more transparent, inclusive, and data-driven, while also addressing concerns of exclusion and irregularities from previous phases.
