At least three persons were killed after being hit by a moving train near a level crossing in Ganjam district late on Sunday night.
The mishap occurred near Haldiapadar level crossing of Berhampur between 11.30 pm and 12 am last night. The identity of deceased was not ascertained immediately.
According to some locals, around 7-8 people, all stated to be labourers, were crossing the railway track without aware of the incoming Visakhapatnam–Tatanagar Express on the route.

The speeding train ran over at least three of them while others miraculously escaped the mishap.
Upon being informed by the locals, the Government Railway Police (GRP) rushed to the spot today morning and recovered the mutilated bodies from the railway tracks.
A probe has been launched into the incident.
