  • Liver is the only organ in the body that can develop new cells and can be healed completely.
  • Practicing asanas and breathing techniques on a regular basis help to improve liver functioning.

The liver is the only organ in the body that can regenerate its cells rapidly if you make positive changes in your lifestyle. It is possible to recover from liver issues by avoiding smoking and drinking alcohol, staying away from junk foods, and losing excess weight.

Apart from that yoga and breathing techniques also go a long way in improving the functioning of the liver. Check below:

Bhastrika Pranayama

This type of pranayama includes inhaling, holding, and exhaling for the same duration. You can do it rapidly for 21 counts and then slowly increase the counts. The speed also can be increased or decreased as Santha (slow) for beginners, Madhyam (medium), and Tivra (fast-paced) for master-level practitioners.

This pranayama drains excess phlegm from the lungs, energies the entire body and mind, improves the respiratory and digestive functions of the body, and promotes the regeneration of liver cells.

Yogasanas

Asanas like Baddha Konasana, Urdhva Mukh Svanasana, and Chaturanga Dandasana are particularly good for the proper functioning of the digestive system, kidneys, and liver. Fish pose, cow pose, boat pose, and many other asanas help in improving the health of the liver.

Yoga assists in the stimulation of liver enzymes thereby increasing the functionality of the spleen. These asanas exert pressure on the liver due to which the liver is strengthened and its overall functioning is improved.

Regular practice of Yoga helps in evaporating fat deposits on the liver and in the case of chronic liver issues it prevents oxygenation and regulates blood flow thereby stopping scarring of the liver. When the liver gets scarred it is unable to remove metabolized fats, and pathogenic bacteria settled on it.

Regular Yoga practice provides a fresh supply of oxygenated blood to the body’s every part and thus improves the functioning of the liver.

Apart from Pranayama and asanas, you should also adopt healthy eating habits to get maximum benefit.
