Baazigar 2 may never happen with Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar! Here's why

In May 2024, the celebrated veteran director-duo Abbas-Mustan expressed their interest in making a sequel to their 1993 romantic thriller Baazigar, starring Shah Rukh Khan as an anti-hero. The veteran filmmakers acknowledged a fan's idea of making Baazigar 2 with Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar as the actors duo have gotten their monikers Badshah and Khiladi, because of Abbas-Mustan films. The idea of SRK and Akki in the Baazigar sequel is undeniably extremely exciting. However, Baazigar 2 may never happen with Shah Rukh and Akshay in the lead.

Badshah and Khiladi Have a Lot In Common!

Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar started their career in the early 90s. From being outsiders to their initial struggles and achieving superstardom, the actor duo has a lot in common. However, despite sharing a good bond off-screen, SRK and Akki haven't shared much screen space.

Notably, Badshah and Khiladi have worked in a few movies. 1997's Dil To Pagal Hai starred Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor in the lead with Akshay Kumar in an extended cameo. A few other movies of the duo together include Hey Baby and Om Shanti Om.

Fans of the duo certainly want to see them together in a movie with equally important characters.

Abbas-Mustan's hint about Baazigar 2 might have filled excitement among their fans and they certainly can't wait to see them in the sequel of the acclaimed romantic-thriller.

However, the duo might never be cast in a movie and Baazigar 2 may never happen with them.

Why SRK and Akki Can't Work Together?

Well, Shah Rukh himself revealed the reason why he and Akshay may never work together in a film.

Responding to a query by a fan, SRK said, "I don't wake up as early as him."

Fans are well aware that Khiladi wakes up between 4 to 4:30 am and typically sleeps by 9 to 9:30 pm. Akki is also known as the most punctual star to arrive on the set at the scheduled time, after Amitabh Bachchan. On the other hand, Badshah goes to sleep at around 5 am and wakes up between 9 to 10 am. Moreover, there are multiple instances of SRK's late arrival on the sets.

Interestingly, for the promotions of Sky Force earlier this year, Akshay arrived on Bigg Boss 18 set with Veer Pahariya as per the scheduled time. Akki was supposed to have a fun banter with Salman Khan on the grand finale episode. However, the Bigg Boss host hadn't come by then. Akki waited for an hour and walked away from the set without shooting.

Akki being punctual and SRK with a history of late arrival, the duo and the makers would face problems while shooting. Even the possibility of tensions escalating between Akshay and SRK can't be avoided.
