The Muribahal Police in Bolangir on Saturday arrested a junior teacher of Kurlabahal Upper Primary School on charges of allegedly submitting fake certificates to get the job.

According to sources, a joint team of Muribahal Police headed by Sub Inspector Rajendra Behera and Belapada police arrested the teacher, identified as Bana Mahananda, from his house at Malapada village under Kanuta Panchayat yesterday.

Mahananda was forwarded to court and later sent to police custody after his bail plea was rejected, sources added.

“Acting on the complaints lodged by Muribahal Block Education Officer (BEO), cases have been registered against four teachers and one of them has been arrested yesterday,” said Muribahal police station IIC Jyotirani Das.

“Investigation into the matter is on. Once we get necessary evidences, action will also be taken against the other erring teachers,” Das added.

Notably, the Directorate of Primary Education has been asking the BEOs to furnish the details of teachers who bagged the jobs by furnishing fake certificates.
