A delivery boy was allegedly kidnapped on Saturday night by three to four unidentified miscreants near Daya river road at Lingipur area on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
The matter came to light after the abductee, identified as Patitababan Prusty, sent ‘SOS’ via a voice message to his wife at around 9 pm yesterday. “I had not seen the voice message as my mobile internet was off. Later, I alert my family members after hearing the voice message in which my husband informed me that four drunk youths have kidnapped him in an auto,” said Prusty’s wife.

Prusty was staying with his family at Nuagaon Bijayvihar area in rented accommodation. He used to return home by 11:30 pm every day.
The family members said they immediately left for police station after getting the voice message. They launched a search operation to trace Prusty and recovered his slippers, bag and knife from the roadside of the spot informed by him (Prusty) in the voice message.
The family members stated that Prusty had earlier informed that his motorcycle developed some technical snag and he would come home late. He had also informed that a few drunk youths were standing at a distance and he was not feeling safe as he had some cash with him.
“I got a call at around 3 am regarding my nephew’s abduction. We have lodged a police complaint in connection with the incident,” said Prusty’s uncle. Though it is still unclear under what circumstances Prusty was kidnapped, Dhauli police has started probe into the incident.
