BJP workers on Wednesday staged protests across Odisha demanding the ouster of Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra for his alleged links with Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in lady teacher Mamita Meher murder case and CBI probe into the incident.

The BJP Yuva Morcha members gheraoed the Balasore SP office demanding expulsion of the minister.

They shouted slogans against the State government and sought justice for Mamita and arrest of Mishra.

“There has not been much progress in the investigation process because of a nexus between police and some political leaders. Due to inactivity of the police and administration, these kinds of crimes are regularly happening in Odisha,” said a BJP leader.

“We will continue our protests across the State demanding the expulsion of the Minister,” he added.

Meanwhile, BJP activists led by Sundargarh MP Jual Oram took out a rally from Deogaon demanding the resignation of the minister. They submitted a memorandum to Sundargarh SP seeking a CBI probe into the murder case. 

“We demand justice for Mamita. We will intensify our protests further to put pressure on the government for the expulsion of the Minister,” said Oram.

The Opposition party has planned to gherao SP offices in as many as nine districts of the State namely Puri, Balasore, Gajapati, Jagatsinghapur, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Khordha, Nayagarh and Jharsuguda today. On Tuesday The youth Congress hit the State roads demanding the ouster of  Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra for his alleged links with Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in lady teacher Mamita Meher murder case.
