A violent clash broke out between two groups in Mancheswar police area of Bhubaneswar on Friday that left at least six persons injured. 

As per the preliminary reports, the clash broke out between Mundasahi and Sriram Sahi over a trivial fight that occurred yesterday. Six persons, including a minor and a woman, were injured.

They were immediately rushed to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. While two critically injured were undergoing treatment at the hospital, four others have been discharged after preliminary treatment.

Jagannath Sirka, one of the injured youths said, “About 50-60 people came all of a sudden wielding weapons like daggers and swords. Before we could reckon anything, they started attacking us. Some residents rushed into their homes to protect themselves from the attack, but the assailants did not spare anyone.”

“I had locked myself in my house as I was alone when the attackers came in inebriated condition and broke into my house. They attacked me with weapon,” alleged a woman who sustained injuries to her head.

Meanwhile, the locals of  Mundasahi blocked the National Highway 16 near Palasuni demanding immediate arrest of miscreants involved in the attack. The police rushed to the spot and held a discussion with the protestors following which the blockade was withdrawn.
