A lady lecturer in Bhubaneswar was looted in a novel way on Thursday when some miscreants diverted her driver’s attention towards ‘leaking lubricants' from her vehicle before decamping with valuables including jewelleries and cash.

The incident occurred near Tarini Vastralaya on the stretch between Rajmahal square and Kalpana square under the Laxmisagar Police limits in Bhubaneswar. As per reports, the miscreants targeted the lecturer in the car by indicating the driver that the car was leaking lubricant from the engine bay.

Once the driver stopped the car and opened the bonnet to check the problem, the miscreants came from behind and sprayed some liquid on the lecturer sitting in the rear seat before decamping with her purse which contained Rs 3000 cash, gold jewellery, a mobile phone and some important documents.

Kailash Parida, the driver said, “While I was driving, the youths on a two wheeler signalled that the car was leaking oil. After I found no signs of the leaking lubricant in the engine, I came back to the car only to find a strong odour emanating from the rear seat. The lecturer came out of the vehicle in panic and told me about the loot.”

Following the loot, the lecturer informed the police control room after which the cops have launched a probe to nab the robbers.
