Family members of a Plus 2 student in Cuttack, whose body was found on Thursday, lodged a complaint with the police on Friday alleging that he had been murdered in a pre-determined manner.

The body of 19-year-old Tusharkanta Sahu, who had been missing since Wednesday, was found at the Jobra Barrage in Mahanadi river on Thursday.

In his complaint at the Cantonment police station, the deceased’s father, Hrusikesh Sahu, alleged his son had been murdered and the crime was preplanned. He alleged the involvement of Tushar’s female friend, her ex-boyfriend and three of her relatives in the crime.

“It is a preplanned murder. The mobile phone number of a student belonging to an engineering college who is suspected to be involved in the crime is unreachable now. We also learnt that he is not found at his rented accommodation. Where he is now,” questioned the bereaved father.

The deceased’s sister, who also made similar allegations of murder against a girl and her friends, demanded the police to verify the call details of her brother’s mobile phone. Justifying her demand, she said that prior to his disappearance on August 3, Tushar was frequently getting calls from a particular number.

Meanwhile, a video clip of Tushar and his female friend has surfaced making the case murkier. Besides, an audio clip containing the conversation of Tushar with his friend has also come to light.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prateek Singh said an investigation is underway.

“On Wednesday night, a missing case was lodged at the Cantonment police station by family members of the 19-year-old youth. During search, his scooter was found near Dhabaleswar bridge. The next day, his body was found floating in Mahanadi river under Jagatpur police limits,” the DCP said.

“An unnatural death case has been registered at Jagatpur police station. Further investigation is underway and the post-mortem of the body was conducted yesterday,” he added.
