A district court in Nayagarh on Friday sentenced four persons to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of four persons including two children of a family during a dacoity in 2014. 

As per reports, four dacoits- A Ramesh, J Jayakrushna, J Santosh and M Krishna had barged into a house in Shastri Nagar of Chandpur area in Nayagarh with the intension of dacoity. However, the dacoits ended up brutally murdering four members of a family in the house which included two minors. 

Following the incident, the locals had staged protests demanding strict punishment for the murderers. 

Today, the District Court judge awarded life imprisonment to all the convicted in the case and also imposed a penalty of Rs 45, 000 on each. 

"In 2014 brutal quadruple murder case that took place in Nayagarh's Shastri Nagar in Chandpur area, the convicted had robbed a house and killed four members of a family. Pronouncing the verdict, the convicted with charges of robbery and murder, have been awarded life imprisonment three times under Sections 395, 396 and 302 of IPC. Under penal code 457 and 460 for barging into the house and carrying out the crime, they were awarded imprisonment for 10 years and have been slapped with a penalty of Rs 45, 000, " said public prosecutor Chittaranjan Kanungo.
