In an audacious ‘honour’ crime, the family members of a girl broke into the house of her alleged lover in Deogarh on Thursday night and clubbed the youth and her mother with sharp weapons.
While the youth was grievously injured in the attack, his mother succumbed to her injuries on the spot.
As per reports, the daughter of Narendra Sabar, who is of Deogarh's Gardpal village, was allegedly into a relationship with a youth from the same village, identified as Pritam Kulu. After learning about the girl's relationship with Pritam, her family members warned her to stay away from him by warning her with dire consequences.
However, she didn't pay heed to the warnings and continued her relationship. Enraged at this, an agitated Narendra, along with his wife and four sons, barged into the house of Pritam on Thursday night. Armed with sharp weapons and with murderous intentions, Narendra and his sons brutally attacked Pritam, leaving him grievously injured.
Meanwhile, Pritam's mother intervened in a bid to save her son. But, Narendra and his sons were unstoppable and they brutally assaulted her, causing her die instantaneously.
"Narendra came along with her wife and four sons with wooden logs, axe and other sharp weapons. While they were attacking my brother, our mother intervened trying to stop them. But, the five of them pushed the gate, entered our premises and killed her," said Pritam’s sister who allegedly witnessed the horrific crime.
"After killing our mother, they again turned to my brother, took him to a corner in the premises and again assaulted him with wooden logs and sharp weapons," she added.
A grievously injured Pritam was subsequently rushed to a hospital in Burla while her mother was pronounced dead before admission.
A police team along with forensic experts rushed to the spot after learning about the incident. While 5 of the accused have been arrested, further probe is underway.
"After learning about the dastardly incident, we rushed to the spot with our scientific team. The scientific team analysed the spot and collected the required evidence. This is a full-proof case. We have arrested a total of five accused in the case. Further probe is underway to learn the exact reason behind the bloodshed. We are yet to ascertain if the attack was on account of past enmity or love affair, or something else," said Raj Kishore Paikaray, Superintended of Police, Deogarh.
